Rebuilding Strength: The Leadership Lessons That Shaped HER

Rebuilding Strength: The Leadership Lessons That Shaped HER

International Women’s Day is a moment that always makes me pause and reflect.

Not just on the achievements of women around the world, but on the quieter, often unseen journeys of resilience, rebuilding, and personal growth.

For me, the journey that led to HER EQUILIBRIUM REVIVED began during one of the most challenging chapters of my life.

One of the most defining chapters of my life came when I made the difficult decision to leave a volatile, emotionally exhaustive relationship.  It wasn't an example of a relationship that I wanted my daughters to see, I didn't want them to think that that was normal or what they grew up to think love looked like. I wanted to set an example of the kind of respect and partnership every woman deserves.

That chapter broke me but forced me to rediscover who I was, not just as a woman, but as a mother, a professional, and eventually now a founder.  I was determined to find my strength and independence.

I knew one thing very clearly.....I wanted to show my daughters that women can rebuild.......and that strength isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s simply choosing to move forward following a path that aligns with your values.

Strength Often Starts With One Small Decision
For me, that decision started with prioritising my health again.

Movement became more than exercise.
It became my foundation, a way to reconnect with myself, both physically and mentally.

Training, walking, and creating consistent routines helped rebuild something deeper than fitness. It rebuilt my confidence and my clarity.

Over time I realised that strength doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes strength looks like:
✦ choosing to start again
✦ prioritising your wellbeing
✦ showing up for movement even on busy days
✦ rebuilding confidence one step at a time

These small decisions compound into powerful change. And that philosophy ultimately shaped the brand I would go on to build.

Leadership Looks Different For Every Woman
Before launching HER EQUILIBRIUM REVIVED, much of my leadership experience came through my corporate career.

Interestingly, many of the teams I led and lead now are made up mostly of men. Those experiences taught me a lot about leadership and the different ways it can show up.

At few years ago, a woman acting in my role told me I wasn’t “manager material” because I didn’t draw hard enough lines with the men in the team.

At the time, that comment shook me......But with hindsight, it became one of the most important leadership lessons I’ve learned.

I may not be a strict manager — or a micromanager and I don't get off on "Managing people".... but I am in fact a 'leader' and I strive to be a good one in all aspects of my life - at work, parenting and amongst my friends.  I lead with heart.

The leadership style that feels authentic to me is built on:
◇ empathy
◇ openness and honesty
◇ accountability
◇ belief in people’s individual potential

Interestingly, many of those past team members still keep in touch today and often tell me they miss my leadership. It’s a reminder that effective leadership doesn’t always look the way people expect. Sometimes the most powerful leadership comes from simply being a good human.

Celebrating the People Who Support Us
International Women’s Day celebrates women, but it also reminds us of the people who support our journeys.

Throughout my career and in building this brand, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible support. Many of the men I worked with trusted my leadership and respected my approach.  And many male leaders opened up opportunities for me and encouraged my growth.

And at home, my fiancé has been one of my biggest supporters, encouraging me to pursue this vision and build something meaningful.  He is the one behind the scenes freeing up time for me to work on the business and he bares the brunt of all my stress and casually gets me back on track when times are tough.

When people create environments where women can lead, grow, and shine, incredible things happen.

Why I Created HER EQUILIBRIUM REVIVED
HER EQUILIBRIUM REVIVED was created to represent balance.

Not perfection — balance.
Balance between:
✦ health and wellbeing
✦ family and relationships
✦ personal growth
✦ financial independence

These four pillars guide both the brand and the life I’m building. Movement and health is the foundation to this balance.

The Power of Movement for Women
As women move through different stages of life, prioritising movement becomes even more important.

Research continues to show that regular exercise helps support:
• physical strength and longevity
• mental wellbeing and resilience
• confidence and energy levels
• overall health as we age

Movement doesn’t have to be extreme or intense. What matters most is consistency. And finding movement that makes you feel strong.

A Reflection for International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is about celebrating progress, resilience, and the incredible strength of women everywhere.

But it’s also a reminder that rebuilding, whether personally, professionally, or physically, is something many women experience at different stages of life.

If you’re in a season of rediscovering yourself, prioritising your health, or stepping into a new chapter….....Know that strength often begins with one simple step forward.  It may feel uncomfortable but when we are uncomfortable we unlock our greatest growth.

Moving Forward With Strength
HER EQUILIBRIUM REVIVED was created for women who are showing up for themselves.

✦Women who want to feel strong in their bodies.
✦Confident in their lives.
✦And balanced in the many roles they carry.

Because when women step into their strength, incredible things happen. And that’s something worth celebrating not just on International Women’s Day, but every single day.

With love,
